Pokémon Bank to Shut Down Feb. 27, 2027, Ending 3DS-to-Switch Transfers
Pokémon Bank will stop working on February 27, 2027, removing a key route for moving Pokémon from DS and 3DS games into modern Switch titles. Players who used Bank to collect rare and Legendary Pokémon will no longer be able to transfer those creatures from legacy cartridges via this service. The closure pushes users toward Pokémon Home on Switch/iOS/Android, which requires a paid subscription to link with Bank and offers only 30 free storage slots.
- Pokémon Bank service will be discontinued on February 27, 2027.
- Bank facilitated transfers from DS/3DS games (examples: Pokémon Black/White, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire) into Switch games; those Pokémon will become locked on their original cartridges once Bank shuts down.
- The 3DS eShop closed in March 2023, so new downloads of the Bank app are already unavailable; installed copies will cease functioning on the Feb. 27, 2027 shutdown date.
- Pokémon Bank was free to use; Pokémon Home is the replacement on Switch/iOS/Android, requires a subscription to link with Bank, and only provides 30 free storage slots.
