Golden Sun (2001) for GBA reshaped RPGs and remains a rare, influential classic
Golden Sun launched in August 2001 on the Game Boy Advance, developed by Camelot and published by Nintendo. It fused established RPG mechanics with new systems to create a distinct, modern handheld role-playing experience. After its release the RPG genre declined in both volume and innovation, and subsequent regrowth largely failed to replicate Golden Sun’s originality, marking it as one of the last of its kind.
