GOG bundles NewDark and gamepad support into Thief as stopgap before Nightdive remaster
GOG released a 'dolled-up' package of Thief: The Dark Project and Thief Gold that bundles fan patches and controller support to run cleanly on modern systems. The package includes the NewDark widescreen/compatibility patch and Peter Wright's Gamepad Mod, adding integrated Xbox One controller support with radial equipment menus. This is a curated, non-official refresh intended to make the 1998 game immediately playable on TVs and modern displays ahead of Nightdive's official remaster arriving this winter.
- GOG packaged fan mods and secured permissions to produce an easy-to-install, modern-ready version of Thief: The Dark Project and Thief Gold.
- NewDark is included by default, enabling modern widescreen resolutions and improved compatibility on current PCs.
- Peter Wright's Gamepad Mod is bundled, providing seamless controller support, radial equipment menus, and slowed gameplay during menu selection for comfortable TV play.
- The release is a pseudo-remaster—not a full overhaul—and serves as a stopgap until Nightdive's official remaster debuts this winter.
