Amazon Games chief: cloud gaming can widen access as consoles hit $1,000
Amazon Games head Jeff Gattis says cloud gaming could offer an option for players who can’t or don’t want to buy increasingly expensive consoles. He told the BBC and The Game Business Amazon isn’t trying to replace consoles or PCs, but to expand access for gamers without dedicated hardware. Gattis argued improving streaming tech and rising hardware costs make cloud gaming more viable for underserved players.
- Cloud as an option, not a replacement
- Targets players without dedicated hardware (2.5–3 billion)
- Notes consoles could exceed $1,000 due to rising component costs
- Amazon aims to expand the market through streaming technology
