MTG: The Hobbit expansion previews two rares — Part In Friendship and The Master of Lake-town

Magic: The Gathering’s The Hobbit expansion, returning to J.R.R. Tolkien’s setting, was previewed at MagicCon Amsterdam. GameSpot exclusively revealed two Rare cards from the main set: Part In Friendship and The Master of Lake‑town. The set is scheduled for release in August.

• Set returns MTG to Tolkien’s world; release in August
• Part In Friendship (4G enchantment) replenishes creatures from your library when a nontoken creature dies, putting a qualifying creature onto the battlefield or into your hand
• The Master of Lake‑town (1BB, 3/2, deathtouch) mills players equal to life lost and draws on death for each graveyard with seven or more cards
• Both cards support longer games and specific strategies: creature recursion/combo for Part In Friendship, mill and aggressive loss-of-life synergies for The Master of Lake‑town
