Xbox cuts ~3,200 jobs; four studios reshuffled, industry responds

Microsoft will cut about 3,200 Xbox roles — roughly 1,600 immediately and 1,600 over the next fiscal year — and has moved four studios out of its portfolio. Compulsion and Double Fine will become independent, while Ninja Theory and Undead Labs were placed under new ownership; Obsidian also reported layoffs.
