Ubisoft's Steam release of Heroes of Might & Magic III shipped without the game

Ubisoft released the original Heroes of Might & Magic III Complete Edition on Steam but the package is missing the actual game files, so the $10 purchase installs as a 23.49 KB dummy executable that fails to launch. The Steam listing includes the Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death expansions, yet user reviews have turned 80% negative. The missing files make the release unplayable for buyers and leave GOG's complete edition — currently half-price — as the working alternative.

• Steam listing sells Heroes of Might & Magic III Complete Edition (includes Armageddon's Blade and The Shadow of Death) for $10.
• Downloaded install is only 23.49 KB and produces a "dummy executable" error on launch because the actual game files were not included.
• User review score on Steam fell to 80% negative following the faulty launch.
• GOG continues to offer the full, playable edition and is currently on sale at 50% off.
