Modern Warfare 4 Switch 2 physical copies contain download code, not full game

GG Brief Editorial Desk · AI-assisted, source attributed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 the same day as PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Retail Switch 2 boxes for the game are being sold with a download code instead of the full game on the cartridge. This is the first Call of Duty on a Nintendo console since 2013 and means buyers must download and install the full game and ensure they have enough storage and internet access.

• Modern Warfare 4 is releasing day-and-date on Switch 2 alongside PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
• This is the first Call of Duty release on a Nintendo console since Ghosts on the Wii U in 2013 (13 years).
• Retail physical Switch 2 editions contain only a download code rather than the full game on the cartridge.
• Players who buy the physical Switch 2 box will need to download and install the full game and have sufficient console storage and internet bandwidth; the box does not provide immediate offline play.
