Mortal Shell 2: Disable Target Steering and Enable Free Aim to avoid accidental hits
Mortal Shell 2 launched on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its default aim settings can pull melee swings and shots toward the nearest enemy or nearby hazards, sometimes causing player deaths. A Reddit video shows a character catching fire after weapon tracking steered an attack into an environmental hazard. Changing Target Steering to Light or Off and turning on Free Aim gives manual control, reduces sticky targeting, and can prevent unintended hits and deaths.
- Mortal Shell 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Game defaults set Target Steering to "Default" and Enable Free Aim to "No" in the Game settings menu.
- Target Steering set to Default pulls melee attacks toward the nearest enemy or hazard; changing it to Light or Off reduces that stickiness.
- Enable Free Aim set to No forces the reticle to auto-lock to the nearest enemy; setting Enable Free Aim to Yes allows free manual aiming and removes the automatic reticle lock.
