MW4 beta windows set for Aug 21–25 (preorder) and Aug 28–Sept 1 (open)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will run two beta weekends: an early-access period for pre-order customers from Aug 21–25 and an open beta from Aug 28–Sept 1. Early access requires a pre-order and some pre-orders must redeem beta codes; the open beta is free to download on Steam, Battle.net, and consoles. The betas let players try one upcoming campaign mission and several multiplayer maps ahead of the game's full multiplayer availability in October.

• Early-access beta runs Aug 21 11:00 am PDT through Aug 25 10:00 am PDT and requires a pre-order; certain pre-order routes require redeeming a beta code.
• Open beta runs Aug 28 10:00 am PDT through Sept 1 10:00 am PDT and is freely downloadable on Steam, Battle.net, and consoles without a purchase.
• Beta build includes one upcoming campaign mission plus multiple multiplayer maps for hands-on testing before launch.
• Regular multiplayer access does not begin until the game's October release, making these betas the only public play opportunities before then.
