Guerrilla reboots Horizon Hunters Gathering, drops live-service focus
Guerrilla has been rebooting Horizon Hunters Gathering since June to remove live-service elements and refocus it as a smaller-scale cooperative multiplayer game with a story mode. Some developers have been reassigned to another, unspecified project while a small team begins planning the next single-player Horizon, which is expected to be years away. The studio has a December deadline to convince executives to continue development on the rebooted title. Horizon Hunters Gathering was announced in February as a three-player co-op with brighter, Fortnite-like visuals and tactical, skill-based combat against Horizon’s machine creatures.
