Stalker 2's 2.0 'Back to the Zone' update overhauls lighting, AI and bugs next week
GSC Game World will release a major 2.0 update called 'Back to the Zone' next week alongside Stalker 2's first story expansion. The patch remakes outdoor and indoor lighting, reworks landscape and vegetation, and revamps the A-Life system that governs mutants and rival stalkers. A-Life changes place creatures at specific locations (campfires, bus stops) and concentrate conflicts there to reduce nonstop gunfights, and the update also fixes several immersion-breaking bugs.
- 2.0 update named 'Back to the Zone' launches next week with the game's first story expansion
- Lighting overhaul: sunlight, shadows and reflections adjusted for varied conditions; indoor lighting made more realistic; landscape and vegetation reworked
- A-Life revamp makes mutants and rival stalkers behave more naturally by giving them specific gathering spots and increasing conflicts around those locations to reduce constant combat
- Patch addresses immersion-breaking glitches and other technical issues that previously hindered quests and performance
