Pocketpair limits scope of Palworld 1.1 after big 1.0 launch and player feedback
Palworld reached full 1.0 release in July after more than two years in Early Access and experienced a large Steam player surge that remains high a month later. Pocketpair publishing head John "Bucky" Buckley invited player ideas, received over 2,000 suggestions, and then warned the studio will not spend a year building a single massive 1.1 update. This means large features like a new continent, 20+ level additions, cross-server PvP, or playable pals are off the table and the team will focus on smaller or more automatable changes.
- Palworld launched its full 1.0 in July following more than two years in Early Access and saw a sustained spike in concurrent Steam players more than a month after release.
- Publishing and communications head John "Bucky" Buckley posted a "v1.1 brainstorming" image, invited suggestions, and collected over 2,000 responses from players.
- Pocketpair declared it will not pursue massive 1.1 projects such as adding a new continent, 20+ levels, cross-server PvP, or the ability to play as pals, stating it won’t spend a year on one update.
- Buckley estimated that implementing a hand-crafted variant system for 200+ pals would realistically take a year or more unless the process is automated, guiding the studio toward smaller or automated changes.
