Saber CEO denies AI wrote Rideshare Stimulator story, attacks ex-writer Stella Sacco
Stella Sacco posted that she was the lead writer on the upcoming driving sim Rideshare Stimulator and was fired in favor of ChatGPT; Saber Interactive says the claim is false and that the game's story was written entirely by people. Saber confirms it used generative AI in parts of development but had not yet disclosed that on the game's Steam page and plans to update the page once features are finalized. CEO Matt Karch called Sacco a confidentiality violator, said he did not know her until consulting an AI chatbot, and asserted she was replaced by another writer; he framed AI use as a consumer benefit for the lower-priced title.
- Stella Sacco says she was removed from Rideshare Stimulator in 2023 and alleges she was fired in favor of ChatGPT.
- Saber Interactive acknowledges using generative AI in development but states the game's complete story script was created by real people and was not yet documented on Steam.
- CEO Matt Karch claimed Sacco violated a confidentiality agreement, said he only identified her after asking an AI chatbot (Claude), and described her replacement as "someone more talented."
- Karch described the game's AI use as a positive for consumers, said Saber will update the Steam page when the feature set is finalized, and suggested he would be "happy to replace her with AI" because AI is "programmed to be honest."
