Helldivers 2 adds hug interaction with buffed SEAF troopers; avoid doing it near Crushers
The Devoid of Liberty update adds SEAF platoons that drop in to fight alongside players, offer medical stims, and grant morale boosts when saluted, shaken, or hugged. SEAF troopers have been buffed with machine guns and increased numbers and will pause mid-fire to accept player hugs. New void-mutated enemies—notably quiet, hard-hitting Crushers and fast Wretch variants—make hugging in close combat risky for player survival.
- Devoid of Liberty deploys SEAF platoons via dropships to assist player squads with combat support and medical stims.
- SEAF troopers now carry machine guns, appear in greater numbers, and will stop firing to accept salutes, handshakes, or hugs.
- New void-mutated enemies include Crushers, which are tough and hard to hear approaching, and fast-moving Wretches that close distance quickly.
- Hugging a SEAF trooper pauses player and NPC combat actions, which can be lethal if performed next to heavy enemies like Crushers.
