Battlefield 6: Rebuilt Wake Island, Top Gun crossover and two-seat jets arrive Aug. 18
EA and Battlefield Studios released a Battlefield 6 trailer revealing a rebuilt Wake Island map that arrives on August 18 alongside a Top Gun-themed crossover. The update emphasizes naval combat and adds two-seat jets—the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat—reintroducing two-seat aircraft last seen in Battlefield 2. The crossover adds three Top Gun characters voiced by Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman and Charles Parnell and brings themed cosmetics; the update follows the game's strong launch and recent corporate moves at EA.
- Wake Island, a fan-favorite map originally from Battlefield 1942 and inspired by Wake Atoll, will be rebuilt for Battlefield 6 with a stronger focus on naval warfare plus updated land and air combat, arriving August 18.
- The update introduces two two-seat jets, the F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat, marking the return of two-seat jets to the series for the first time since Battlefield 2 roughly 21 years ago.
- The Top Gun crossover adds three playable characters—Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (voiced by Miles Teller), Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd (voiced by Lewis Pullman) and Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates (voiced by Charles Parnell)—and new Top Gun-themed cosmetics.
- Battlefield 6's successful launch contributed to a larger bonus for EA's CEO, coincided with layoffs of developers who worked on the game, and the franchise is now owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund via its buyout of EA.
