God of War TV recasts Kratos; Atreus and Thrud will be older in Season 2
Kratos actor Ryan Hurst exited the Amazon God of War series after suffering a biceps tear on set and undergoing surgery, which paused production while a replacement is sought; Dave Bautista is in talks to take the role. Amazon will also recast Atreus and Thrud for Season 2, replacing child actors Callum Vinson and Island Austin with teen versions (casting codenames 'Joshua' and 'Ruth') as the story advances. Both seasons are being produced back-to-back with a planned wrap in April 2027, but production is on hiatus and not expected to resume until October. The older casting for Season 2 indicates the series will move directly into the events of God of War: Ragnarök rather than extend the first game across multiple arcs.
