Sony adds PS5 packaging warnings as it ends game disc production in Jan 2028
Sony is adding warning stickers to PS5 restock boxes saying it will stop producing physical game discs from January 2028 and that newly released PlayStation games will be sold in digital format only. The sticker states discs for games released before January 2028 will still play on the console, and the same text appears on European Amazon PS5 listings. Sony says it will proceed cautiously despite strong consumer backlash; the company’s April–June quarter showed 82% of game sales were digital.
