Community tool lets players explore Destiny 2's vaulted maps for preservation
Modder stanuwu is building Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Singleplayer Exploration Mode to load and inspect environments from the final Destiny 2 build before Bungie's June 2020 content vaulting. The tool requires users to supply the Season of Arrivals build and opens maps stripped of enemies, NPCs, activities and gameplay mechanics—it does not restore playable missions or raids. Videos on X and YouTube show players navigating previously vaulted and never-implemented regions, providing a form of preservation two months after Destiny 2's end of live-service development. This work surfaces areas that were removed at Beyond Light and had previously been paid content.
- Tool name: Destiny 2 Shadowkeep Singleplayer Exploration Mode, developed by stanuwu, loads environments from the pre-Beyond Light build.
- Users must provide the Season of Arrivals build; loaded maps contain no enemies, NPCs, activities, or implemented mechanics.
- The tool cannot make old builds playable and does not restore missions, raids, or other gameplay systems.
- Videos on X and YouTube show exploration of both locations vaulted in June 2020 and regions that were never fully implemented, preserving content removed from the live game.
